Campaign Activity Distribution slow

Hi All,

In CRM 2011, I created a campaign, a marketing list with 3000 members and distributed a campaign activity with the channel set to "phone".  The phone calls are getting created but I am getting 1 phone call every 20 - 25 seconds.  What could be slowing down this process?  I thought it would be a lot more faster than this.  Any insights will be greatly appreciated.
